This aerator valve is also called a washing machine valve or dishwasher valve. An aerator valve ensures that, when negative pressure develops in the pipe, water from the washing machine or dishwasher doesn't flow back into the drinking water line. As soon as negative pressure develops, the aerator valve is sucked open, breaking the connection to the attached hose, preventing the water from flowing back from the washing machine or dishwasher.

Leakage?

If the aerator valve unexpectedly leaks after installation, it may not have been flushed thoroughly. You can easily solve this by removing the aerator from the valve using a 16 mm open-end wrench. Handle the two parts of the aerator carefully to prevent damage and further leakage. Rinse the parts, especially the black O-rings, thoroughly under cold running water separately. After reassembling, replace the aerator valve in the valve using a 16 mm open-end wrench.
