To ensure a watertight connection to the pipe, you must remove grease and dirt before making the connection. You can use cleaners and degreasers for cleaning.

Assembly

It's important to cut the pipe straight when soldering the fitting to the pipe. You can do this with a pipe cutter. This brass elbow is connected using soft soldering. You first apply solder and then connect the pipe. The solder is heated at the narrow gap between the brass elbow and the copper pipe, and is drawn in, making the connection watertight.
