Recovery unit with counterflow heat exchanger. Compact recuperator with cross-counterflow heat exchanger, EPP housing, controller

BLAST recovery units with counterflow heat exchangers are highly efficient heat recovery units designed for mechanical ventilation systems in residential, commercial, and single-family homes. They are based on modern technical, technological, and material solutions.

BLAST ventilation units are used in energy-efficient and passive buildings and provide fresh and clean air in the building by systematically and continuously exchanging polluted air with fresh air.

The BLAST series of compact, freestanding plug-and-play units is available in two basic sizes with capacities of 360 m³/h and 630 m³/h. They are characterized by the following features:

  • A robust housing made of injection-moulded polypropylene foam, combined with a modern, timeless design;
  • An innovative frost protection system to minimize energy consumption in the event of frost in the heat exchanger;
  • WiFi module in the control unit, which allows the unit to be controlled remotely via a telephone, tablet or computer;
  • Setting the unit's operating modes according to an individually programmed calendar; Meets the requirements of the "Clean Air" program, class A/A+;
  • Special inspection panels for easy access to the unit components, including filters for replacement.
  • The latest BLAST compact recovery unit with a capacity of 180 m³/h is designed as a hanging unit and can be mounted horizontally on the ceiling or vertically/on the wall.

BLAST Components

    1. Casing

    The BLAST unit's housing is made of injection-molded, foamed polypropylene. The exterior of the housing is made of galvanized sheet steel, painted in RAL 9010.

    Specially designed control panel structure, including the internal geometry, enables:

    - Achieve very good thermal insulation,

    - Eliminate cold bridges,

    - No risk of condensation on the walls of the unit,

    - Reduce pressure losses in the air handling unit,

    - Achieve very good sound insulation,

    - Use of a four-sided, self-cleaning condensate collection tray,

    - Aesthetically attractive, modern exterior.

    The enclosure components can be easily disassembled to provide access to the control panel components for easy operation and maintenance.

    The control unit comes standard with a wall mounting bracket and feet. Decorative feet are available as an option.

    2. Fan Set

    Energy-efficient radial fans with direct drive and EC motors are used. A pressure transducer (optional) allows for independent maintenance of a constant volume and mass flow rate for supply and exhaust.

    3. Heat recovery exchanger

    The air handling unit uses an aluminum counterflow heat exchanger with an automatically closed bypass. The heat exchanger has a high efficiency (up to 92%) and greater mechanical strength than plastic heat exchangers. It effectively separates the supply and exhaust airflows. The heat exchanger is designed for easy disassembly for cleaning and meets strict hygiene requirements. The heat exchangers used are certified according to Eurovent and VDI 6022.

    4. Filters

    Filters are disposable and replaceable. Special inspection panels provide easy access to filters for replacement.

    The BLAST air handling unit is equipped with ePM1050% (M5) filters as standard. An ePM160% (F7) filter can be optionally used on the supply air.

    The filters are made with mini-pleat technology, have a large filter surface, low resistance, increased dust absorption and can therefore have a longer lifespan.

    The filter system used effectively separates fine dust, a component of the particulate matter in popular smog.

    5. Heater

    The BLAST air handling unit is equipped with an electric preheater with an antifreeze function. The heater's output is continuously controlled via a PWM signal. The heater is activated when the pressure drop across the heat exchanger increases. During each operating phase of the heat exchanger, the pressure control points are monitored so that the electric heater is controlled based on the degree of frost in the fins. The integrated defrost system optimizes the heater's operation and output and prevents excessive frost formation on the heat exchanger, minimizing energy costs.

    6. By-pass

    The air handling unit is equipped as standard with a bypass, an automatically controlled system of closed, counter-rotating dampers. This solution enables the so-called free cooling function: free cooling of rooms with outside air. Free cooling can be used, for example, in the summer when the room temperature is too high and the outside air is pleasantly cool.

    7. Connections

    The connectors are made of galvanized sheet steel with a rubber seal, diameter ø200 mm. They are included as standard equipment with the air handling unit. They are attached to the air handling unit and installed in the unit using the plug-in method. Correctly profiled holes in the air handling unit and the seals used ensure a secure connection between the connector and the unit.

    The BLAST air handling unit is designed to be connected to the ventilation system with the connections facing upwards or to the side. For a directional connection, use the appropriate elbow fittings with the corresponding seals.

    8. Power connection panel

    The BLAST control panel features an easily accessible connection panel with a power cord connector and a communication cable connector for a STANDARD or ADVANCE control transmitter. The standard power cord is 2 meters long. It is fitted with a plug at one end for direct connection to the unit and is unarmored at the power source end.

    The communication cable is 2 meters long, with one end fitted with bare wires, ready for connection to the reference unit, and the other end with an RJ-12 connector. If the reference unit needs to be installed further away from the main unit, the cable can be extended up to 50 meters for proper operation.

    9. Automation

    The BLAST control panel comes standard with Plug & Play.

    The panel automation consists of the controller motherboard and the terminal strip module, which allows for the connection of optional automation components. To power the automation expansion elements, two reference voltage sources of 230 VAC and 24 VDC are provided on the terminal strip module's printed circuit board.

    The location of the terminal strip module provides easy access for service. Connecting and activating additional automation elements is simple and even convenient. The user receives a product that allows the recovery unit to be expanded with additional elements (even after installation) without having to replace the printed circuit boards, transducer, or application.
