Operation in brief

The outdoor unit extracts heat from the outside air and transfers it to the water circuit via the plate heat exchanger. In cooling mode, the circuit is reversed via the 4-way valve. The inverter regulates the compressor speed based on heat demand and water temperature. Defrost occurs automatically; during the legionella program, the boiler tank is thermally disinfected.

Heating/DHW circuit (simplified)
  • Compressor → air exchanger (evaporation) → EEV → water exchanger (condensation) → 4-way valve.
  • Sensors (including T3/T4/T5/TA/TB/TP/TH) control EEV, fan, compressor and defrost.
  • Start logic with start-up delay and phased speed build-up for stability.
Cooling/defrosting operation
  • 4-way valve reverses the flow direction; air exchanger condenses, water exchanger evaporates.
  • Defrost: EEV fully open, 4-way valve turned on, fan off; runtime depends on conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the Airmi also actively cool?

Yes. The 4-way valve switches the system to cooling mode; the controls and safety features remain active.

Do I need a buffer tank?

Depending on zones, valves, and system volume. The recommended system volume is approximately 17 L/kW. We recommend this during the consultation for stability and sound comfort.

Is a legionella program in place?

Yes, periodic thermal disinfection of the boiler tank can be scheduled via the controller.

Is Wi-Fi control possible?

Yes, the wired controller can be paired with Wi-Fi for monitoring and remote control.
